A number of sites offered “Bill Me Later” services this year. This was convenient, but how and why was it used? Peter Burrows asks about them on his blog at Business Week. He feels that they were for people who were hesitant to enter their credit card information on the web. I disagree. To me, they were a way to not have my purchases show up on my on-line credit card statement or bank account right away. I personally find it annoying when I go to buy something pricey for my wife and before I give her the gift, she’s asking me what this $400 charge from Key’s jewelers is for, and that she hopes I didn’t spend that much on something for her. When your spouse knows how much you spent on something before they recieve it, the surprise is non-existant and you’re starting in the negative territory.
So think about it. Did you use a BML option, and, more importantly, why?
