Many of us have heard talk about the "radical, fundamentalist" Muslims hijacking the faith/religion of mainstream Muslims and Islamists in general. 2008 Presidential candidate Barak Hussain Obama believes that "Evangelical" Christians have done the same thing. I assume he is referring to the Moral Majority and Christian Coalition movements. Obama also claims that the Evangelicals only care about issues like abortion and gay marriage, school prayer and intelligent design. He also claims that the number one priority for the Christian Coalition was to enact tax cuts for the rich. Lastly, he claims that these Christian movements are painting the Democrats as out of touch with these moral issues. First, it seems from his comments, at least according to the prerelease of his speech, that Obama must NOT hold these moral issues dear. It would appear that he advocates abortion, gay marriage, criminalizing school prayer and mocking intelligent design. I wouldn’t say that this makes him immoral, but out of touch with mainstream Christianity. Obama doesn’t like labels, but he associates with groups that are labelled liberal. The claim that the Christian Coalition’s number one aim was to cut taxes on the rich is patently absurd. Then again, Obama and many like-minded Democrats seem to feel that enacting taxes is one of the key tenets of their platform. I can sum up the Democratic platform in 3 clauses: tax the "rich" more, tax capital gains from smart investment in America (whether you’re rich or not), and make America into a socialist state. Part of the problem is that they feel that the "rich" consists of people who really aren’t rich. By their definition, I’m rich because our overall household income crested $100,000. However, I buy used cars instead of new, save where I can and try to avoid going into debt by not impulse spending. Does that make me rich? I think not. I think it makes me smart, and I don’t think we should penalize smart people. I do think that the real "rich" should bear a higher percentage of the tax burden than the "poor", however to me, rich is defined as people making over $1 million per year. The Socialists just need an extra 0 in their misguided definition of rich. Lastly, Obama wants to claim that he is a moderate. At least Hillary doesn’t hide her liberal credentials. I don’t believe him for a moment. My only consolation is that in order to enact any of these Socialist ideas that Obama and Hillary have, Congress must act. I have no fear of the Congress getting anything like that done quickly. If we get a Democrat for president, it is very likely that the Congress will revert back to Republican quickly. Obama has realized that Christians have a voice, and aren’t afraid to speak up. He’s trying to corrupt that message. I trust that everyone clearly sees the wolf wearing the sheep-skin jacket.
